Vincent L Abrams was born September 21, 1966 in Chicago, IL.
Vince studied music at an early age, and decided to focus on music as a high school major in 1980 at Thornridge High School in Dolton, IL. In 1984 Vince graduated from high school and was awarded the “Louis Armstrong Jazz Award”.
In 1999 Vince formed his first smooth jazz band, the "Avant Garden" band. Their music was made up of influences from various styles: jazz, hip hop, funk, R&B and gospel.
Vince recorded his first album, "inVINCEble", in that same year and went on to perform at various venues throughout the Chicagoland area.
In 2002, Vince, along with bass player and singer Calvin Whittaker, formed the band "The Jazz Matrix". The duo put their heads and talents together to complete their first project, "Enter The Jazz Matrix".
In 2004 "The Jazz Matrix" opened in Chicago for Sting and Annie Lennox and in South Carolina for Brian McKnight, Angie Stone, and Anthony Hamilton. Vince has also been featured with such groups as "Say Yes" and "Randy J. & Xpressions Band”.
After returning from the military in 2011, Vince attended Columbia College Chicago where he majored in Jazz Performance.
Vince has been featured as a solo artist, at Buddy Guy's Legends in Chicago, The Underground Cocktail Club in Chicago, Loft Adiq in Gary, IN, The Linger Martini Bar in Oak Forest, IL, Flavor Restaurant in Richton Park, IL, Lee's Unleaded Blues in Chicago, IL, Close Up 2 Contemporary Jazz Club in Chicago, IL, Club LaVue in Chicago Heights, IL, and Wishbone Restaurant in Chicago, IL just to name a few.
Vince is currently working in the studio on his latest project, “The Wrath of the Funky Trumpeter”, soon to be released.
